North West Animal Feed Recycling Plant

PROJECT OVERVIEW

  • Construct Bids secured the contract to design and refurbish an existing industrial site to house animal food recycling and specialist deconstruction and metal recycling businesses in separate facilities. The food recycling project is dedicated to converting surplus, non-meat-containing food waste into nutritious animal feed.
  • The animal feed facility, opened in October 2025, transforms up to 50,000 tonnes of surplus food annually from UK food manufacturers and supermarket supply chains into premium livestock feed through advanced sorting, blending, and processing techniques.
  • Total project value £5.5M: Construction, equipment and power infrastructure costs.

PROJECT COMPRISES OF

  • Refurbishment and repurposing of two existing warehousing units, including removal of asbestos roofs and installation of new, durable roofing systems. Alterations to drainage and surfacing to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Construction of structural loading bays and equipment support structures to handle high-volume operations
  • Comprehensive electrical works, encompassing lighting, emergency systems, and dedicated power supplies for processing equipment.
  • Installation of specialised food recycling and reprocessing equipment, including product silos, processing, and mixers/picking lines, enabling production of high-density dry, moist, and wet animal feeds.
